Happy Birthday to Me

Yesterday was my 21st birthday!
No I did not go get drunk
I didn't even have one drink!
Aren't you so proud of me :)

Instead yesterday I had school
Which was not bad except well we had a HUGE downpour of rain which I was not prepared for
so needless to say...
my boots soaked in all the rain as I walked across campus to poetry class
my jeans were soaked and itchy in poetry class
and well I could Not pay attention in poetry class because I was soaking wet and miserable.

I did get my free Starbucks coffee yesterday which did help my day to get better
as did
my free pastry from Panera!

We then went to HuHot for dinner which was super yummy
and last but not least I got a cookie cake!
It was delicious!

So Happy 21st Birthday to me :)

P.S. Next birthday I will be MARRIED!!!!!!!!

Love Mrs. Hobbs to be :)

God Made You and Loves You!

So this post is super exciting for me because this video is...well...pretty amazing
I am involved in a campus ministry called Chi Alpha and this year I was asked to be a leader which I was pretty much born to be a leader :)
There are three of us girls in charge of a small group for the older college girls (sophomores and up)
Last night one of the other leaders was in charge of doing our little study and man did she do good!

Here is the video she showed
P.S. It's Veggie Tales!!!

This video is amazing because it shows you that no matter what people say about you God made you and loves you just the way you are!

Let's just say our small group went for 2 hours last night! It was seriously amazing.
God is so good!

Here is a list of verses we talked about also!
 Rom. 8:1-2, 31-39; Ps. 139; John 15:13-15; 1 Peter 2:9-10; John 8:31-32; Heb 4:14-16

Classes and Chocolate!

Well we are three days into school now.
My poetry class turned out to be really interesting.
There is a young man in my class who well...he is annoying, thinks he is a big shot and wants all the attention on him.
(Didn't we leave high school like 3 years ago?)
I mean come on let someone else in the lime light!

My child development teacher is also really interesting...
I am trying to decide if I like the way she teaches or not.

Geometry has been going well so far
(I am keeping a super Open mind about it)

Today I also had a Cinnamon Chocolate loaf from Starbucks!
I loved it, maybe my new favorite thing!

One sad thing is that me and Mr. Hobbs were suppose to be getting furniture from a friend of my moms well it turns out the friends husband may want to keep the furniture :(
but we do get a pretty new Queen sized bed ;)

My teeth are feeling better from the surgery but man I am still craving Indian food!

I just found the recipe for the Cinnamon Chocolate Loaf!!! OMgosh I am so excited!
Here is is :)

Cinnamon Chocolate Loaf
aka from Starbucks!
Ingredients (makes two loaves):
Chocolate Batter –
  • 3 sticks unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 5 large eggs at room temperature
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 ¼ cup dutch processed cocoa
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 tsp vanilla
Cocoa Spice Topping –
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp dutch processed cocoa
  • Pinch of ground ginger
  • Pinch of ground cloves
  • ¼ cup sparkle sugar (for decorating)
Step 1 – The most obvious yet most forgotten (by me anyway) step, preheat oven to 350 F. Grab two 9 x 5 x 3 loaf pans and line with parchment paper.
Step 2 – To mix the batter you’ll start with the butter and sugar. Mix these in an electric mixer until light and creamy, around 5 minutes. Then add the eggs, one at a time, mixing until each is fully incorporated. You may need to scrape down the sides of the bowl a few times to get them fully mixed in.
Step 3 – Grab another bowl and sift together flour, cocoa, cinnamon, salt, baking powder and baking soda. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, water and vanilla. With your mixer on a low speed, begin adding the contents of each bowl to the butter mixture, alternating between the two until your mixture is fully blended, but not overly whipped. Then split your batter between the two pans. If your batter is slightly uneven, you can lightly shake the pan to even out the tops.
Step 4 – My favorite step, and the easiest part of the recipe, make your topping. Just combine the sugar, cinnamon, cocoa, ginger and cloves. Then evenly layer the decorating sugar over your batter, followed by the spice mixture.
Step 5 – Finally, bake for 45-50 minutes.

Much love!

School and Wisdom Teeth

So school started back up today and man was it cold to!
The high was in the low 30's
to cold.
So I walked to my first class which is Geometry for teachers (EWWWW)
holding my mug with mint the time I got to class the tea was cold.
Not Cool.
I also got my wisdom teeth taken out this past Friday so I have kind of been out of it for a few days.
Let me tell you, the only awful part of getting your wisdom teeth taken out is the fact you can't eat any normal food for about 4 to 5 days because you don't want to jack up your stitches...
so needless to say I have kind of been a bit cranky because I haven't eaten since Friday.
Only milk shakes and potatoes (ugh)
Anyway tomorrow is the second day of school and maybe we will try noodles and see if I can handle those.
Tomorrow is a new day!
and my first day of Music and Poetry class :)
Tomorrow should be fun!

Lately I have had a lot of time to think. School is out till the 14th of January and sitting at work I have nothing to do but wait to get a phone call so I have had time to think. I have realized lately that I want to live a more simple life. To be honest I want to get rid of my Facebook (which I will prob do after the wedding) I don't really need a smart phone like I think I do, and I would be fine with out the internet. Mr. Hobbs and I talked last night as we were walking through Wal-Mart (for some reason we have good conversations there) about how we want to live a simpler life, we want to have a farm with some cattle and I would love to have a big garden and maybe some chickens. The simple life seems so good, now I know that it would be work to have all of these things but I think it would be worth it.
How could you resist this face????

cute right!

Not exactly like this but this house is cute!
Okay so even with living simple the things I would own would be cute but functional! So many things to dream about!
