{ Lets Play a Game}

Oak & Oats is putting on a game today! 5 Random Facts about yourself, so I thought I would join in :) Here we go...

  1. I Love Josh Groban. Like obsessed. In high school on our long band trips I would listen to his wonderful, amazing, angelic voice and fall asleep. Oh his voice is so great.
  2. Beef Jerky, I love beef jerky also and my grandpa used to make it for me a lot but after he got sick he hasn't been able to make it, which makes me really sad.
  3. I like making homemade bread, but I do not have a dutch oven pot so I can not make it at my house so I have to make it at my parents, but if I get one for better watch out because it will be bread making time! ( I can be the Ginger Bread Woman, hehehe)
  4. I can not stand being late to anything. I am very type A, organizer, never be late person; but my husband doesn't seem to whether we are late or not which drives me crazy!
  5. I don't like painting my nails...let me explain. I do like painting my nails but I have bad cuticles, so every time I paint my nails my cuticles get bad and I get hang nails and it just hurts. I would love to paint my nails everyday in a new color but it just hurts to bad. Silly cuticles!
Join in! If you do leave me a link in my comment section below so I can see your post.
If you are traveling this weekend, be safe!

{ 6 Month Anniversary }

Wedding Day

Today is the day! 6 whole months. I really can't even believe that life has gone by so fast, we have had our great days and our not so great days. Here is a look back from the last six months.

Favorite Moments:
  • Missouri State Fair- on the way home we were so much into a discussion that Kiel didn't realize we were out of gas so we had to push the car to a gas station.
  • Road trips to Chicago-stopping in the middle of Illinois to look at the stars and going to the Old Spaghetti Factory.
  • Halloween- going all around town to find Duck Dynasty beards.
  • Christmas Movie- Watching Christmas movies with you on your nights off.
  • The Office- watching almost all of the seasons of the Office for like a month every night.
  • Sleep Overs in the Living Room- These are so much fun ;)
Things I Have Learned:
  • It's not all about me anymore
  • Don't compare your marriage to anyone else, "Don't compare your chapter one to someone else chapter 20."
  • Sometimes you just have to let thing go and move on.
  • Be the first to forgive!
  • Try not to take everything personally ( I am still working on this one.) Maybe the Hubs had a bad day at work and it has nothing to do with you.
Things To Work on in the Next 6 Months:
  • Not taking things personally
  • Laugh more! Lighten up!
  • Pray for my Husband Every day.
  • Try not to be like a mother and more like a Wife.

{ A Saturday Alone}

Most of my Saturdays are spent alone, the Hubs works from 8 in the morning till 7 at night, so I have all day to myself. Today I really need to work on some homework but I am leaving my morning to clean, drink Hot chocolate and watch Anne of Green Gables. ( I am having a wonderful morning :)

I made some of my favorite hot chocolate and am enjoying my morning. I do miss my husband though, we haven't really had a Saturday to ourselves since we got married. Anyway, enjoy your Saturday morning friends!

{ New Look }

I know I just posted but I got excited and wanted to change my blog a little bit okay a lot! But change is good (and I am bored). I hope you like the new design, it is a bit dark but it feels kind of warm and inviting to me for some reason.

Let me know what you think!

{ Life Lately }

  • Thanksgiving is next week!
  • The Hubs and I went to see Catching Fire last night (it was excellent and followed the book really well)
  • Christmas party's for this year are already starting to pile up!
  • Warm coffee on days when the high is suppose to be 35 degrees.
  • My warm husband getting off early so I can spend more time loving on him.
  • The Hubs car broke down this week (mine did two weeks ago)
  • I saw my first motorcycle accident this past week and man was it scary!
  • It is getting COLD out!
To Do:
  • Finish a science memo for class, (teacher said it could take up to 4 hours to write...)
  • Get gas for my car while it is still relatively cheap.
  • RSVP for my work party
I love this print, so simplistic and beautiful!
Have a great day!

Baby Fever...

So I have had some freak out moments this past month. It all started when I wasn't feeling good one night and my Hubs made the joke, "You could be pregnant." Um I better not be! was my response. from then on I have heard baby everything. The Hubs parents came into town about two weeks ago and we went over to my parents house and the moms started talking about when they had me and the Hubs. Great, awesome...more baby talk. and this has continued for about three weeks now. I really do hope that I am not pregnant. I mean I don't have time right now for a baby at all. I still have about a year of school left and now would be a bad time. I don't really think I am pregnant but all this baby talk has me creeped out! but if I am I will not complain either :)

Here are a few baby things from my Pinterest board.

if we had a baby boy, I love bow ties

LOVE LOVE LOVE these colors together!

how cute is this little guy!

This evening I witnessed my first accident. An SUV hit a guy on a motorcycle.  Man was it scary and and my adrenalin was going crazy! It was the first time I ever dialed 911. I tried to stay calm but I am pretty sure I was talking a mile an hour. The guy was okay which I was so thankful for but I am sure he will be sore for about two weeks or more.

So please watch out for motorcycles and drive carefully!

Today was the last day to sign up for the Christmas Exchange so be looking for your emails :) I know I will be!

Be safe everyone!

Brownies and Coffee

Last night I had some time at home to just chill (which was much needed!) so I made some homemade brownies! They are gooey and so yummy :) I made the recipe right off of the Nestle Cocoa box.
This morning I woke up and headed to work. I got my morning coffee and brought the brownies (the Hubs says I can bake but then take it to work, so he doesn't eat it all) so I brought the brownies to work. They are pretty gooey and fudge like so I hope they cooked all the way :) but they are rich and good!
School has been crazy lately, I really only have like three weeks left including finals week. I still have a lot to do. This week I taught two lessons at two different schools and they went really great! But now I have to write reflections for them which will take a while :(

Life is so much better than a last week which is really really nice. I feel calm and collected.
Thank you Jesus for keeping me this way!

Christmas Traditions to Start with Your Husband

Lately I have been trying to think of fun things to do with the Hubs this holiday season. Yesterday I was on Pinterest and I found a blog that has some ideas but they were more for married couples with kids and they weren't my most favorite ideas. So I decided to come up with some of my own!

  • A new Christmas movie every Friday: Now I chose Friday because that is the day Kiel has off during the week. Pick a new Christmas movie to watch. Last week we watched A Muppets Christmas Carol! It was super cute and fun to watch together. Or watch 25 days of Christmas on ABC Family. Here are a few Christmas movies that are really good.
    • The Santa Clause
    • The Polar Express
    • How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the classic one)
    •  A Charlie Brown Christmas
    • The Grinch (the Jim Carrey one)
    • White Christmas (my favorite!)
    • It's A Wonderful Life (Kiel's favorite)
  • Make new kinds of Hot Chocolate: Now you can do this every night or on Friday nights with your Christmas movie. Here is a link to my fav Hot Chocolate
  • Cut down your own Christmas tree: We are doing this for our first year of Christmas together but I hope we can continue this tradition for at least a few years :)
  • Make and Decorate Christmas cookies!: I really like this one. There are many different recipes for cookies, this one is for Super Soft Sugar Cookies! which is the recipe I think I will use this year but there is a recipe for a dough that can be used six different ways found Here. Decorate and have fun!
  • Make or Buy a Gingerbread House: I think this one could be really fun! My husband is pretty creative so I think our gingerbread house would look really cool.
  • Go Sledding Together: When snow comes around, put on your big coats and gloves and have some fun!
  •  Decorate the house or apartment together: Mr. Hobbs and I have already done this... we got really excited about Christmas this year :) But we are not getting our Christmas tree until December. We already have a lot of Christmas stuff up around the house :)

I hope this gave you a few ideas of fun things or traditions to start with your family. If I think of more I will let you know :) or you let me know if you have some great ideas!

I am so excited for Christmas!

A Long Week/Weekend

This week has been so crazy, I literally have not stopped till just now.
My car alternator went out last Wednesday and I could not pick it up till Friday, so I missed two classes because of it. :(
My hubby's birthday was this past Saturday and his parents decided to come down and tell us the Tuesday before. So I cleaned and had a broken car.
This weekend I also had to get two different lessons to teach this week for classes.
I have been so busy and stressed but we did get a little chill time by going to Silver Dollar City and they have over 4 million lights set up around the park!
My hubby in jail :)
Just a few of the lights!

Pretty lights on the trees!

So we had a great time at Silver Dollar City. We also went to Relics which is an antique place here in town. I found this awesome old town that I played with as a kid.

It takes me back to my childhood!
I hope you all had a great week/weekend. After this week I will have less worries, Thank you Jesus :)

Another Day

Today was just another day except my car is fixed but we can't get it till tomorrow... :( sad
Tomorrow at work is a food day though so I am super excited about that!
We always have really good food at my work.
The in-laws are also coming tonight so I have been a cleaning maniac!
but the house does look really really nice.
I sure do hope it stays this way for a while but we will see ;)

I redid my Pinterest Food board today and made it into a Dessert, Drink and Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner boards. I was really excited about it actually!

What's new with you guys???

The Grace of God

This morning I was on my way to class and my car decided to give up. The battery was acting weird and I found out my alternator has fried my battery and is also broken...yup that puts up back about $350 bucks. not cool but these are some things I am grateful for today.
  • A husband who holds me when times are rough
  • The grace of God that helped me make it to Wal-Mart this morning when I thought my car would give out.
  • The fact that the piece we need for my car can't get here till tomorrow...but I get paid tonight so it will cover the cost :)   (God shows up in all sorts of ways.)
  • A wonderful Gram who picks me up, gets me breakfast and takes me to work when my car is broken.
I had a horrible day yesterday but today I just won't stand for it. God has blessed me and kept me safe today so I choose to praise him.

A Sunday Afternoon

Hello All
Happy Sunday Afternoon!

This morning we decided to sleep in and not go to church which was horrible!
But it is nice to sleep in with my Hubs.
We rearranged the living room to make room for our tree that will come in December and also my Grampa bought us a TV! well a little one but the Hubs thought that the screen was to small so this is what I just found...
our couch super close to the tv...he is such a goof ball

Today I also made kale chips again and brownie in a cup which I am about to try!

Have a great Sunday everyone!

October to November

Minions from someone at my work, pretty cute!

Hello All,
I am sitting at work enjoying some coffee thinking back on October and what is to come in November!
Here are a few picts that sum up what I did this October

This is on my Campus here in Missouri
I love, love, love the green and orange's and reds in this tree

another very pretty tree!
Pretty colors!

A big view so you can see all of the trees, I was in class when I took this so I was on the third floor of a building

The top picture is me and my Hubs as Duck Dynasty as a party and the bottom pict is of the clouds from yesterday..kindof scary!
Happy November 1st! p.s. I made this!
So I asked the Hubs this past week when we should put up our Christmas stuff (my family usually waits till after Thanksgiving) but I wanted to make new traditions with my family now. So we decided November 1st which is today! so this evening is dedicated to probably cleaning a little and then getting some Christmas stuff out.
This past week we went to Hobby Lobby and all of their Christmas stuff was 50% off!
Yay us!
So we got our first stocking and lots of other fun Christmasy things :)
I love Christmas so much!!
